What's the difference between black & white (monochrome) and color BOOX devices?
In short: monochrome gives you sharper, crisper text; color gives you color (Kaleido 3, 4,096 colors) at a lower resolution than monochrome. If you mostly read books and text, monochrome is the cleaner experience. If you need color (comics, diagrams, color-coded notes), go color.
Color devices: Go Color 7, Palma 2 Pro, Note Air5 C, Tab X C.
Monochrome devices: Go 6, Go 7 Monochrome, Go 10.3 (all versions), Note Max, Palma 2.
Does the device have a light? Can I read on it in the dark?
Most of them do: a built-in front light you can shift between warm and cool, so night reading is comfortable. Three devices have no front light: the standard Go 10.3, the Go 10.3 2nd generation (non-Lumi version), and the Note Max. With these you'll need a lamp or some light in the room.
How do I choose the right size/device for me? Some of them are really small.
Fair question, sizes go from phone-sized (Palma) up to 7", 10.3" and 13.3". Simple rule: if you want it in your pocket for the commute, go small. If it's for big books, documents, drawing or studying, bigger is more comfortable. Is the cover and keyboard included with the device?
No, they're sold separately. There are original magnetic covers for BOOX devices in several colors, and magnetic keyboard covers for the Note Air5 C, Note Max and Tab X C. One thing worth knowing: external keyboards come in English layout only, but you can type Arabic with the on-screen keyboard or pair another keyboard over Bluetooth.
Can I write and annotate on PDF files?
Yes, on the pen-supported devices you can write and highlight straight onto PDFs, like paper. And it opens pretty much every common format:
